Caspian Terns are striking birds that dive for fish. They can often be seen fishing along the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State, USA. They have bright orange colored beaks and black heads.
I caught these birds on camera with their fish. The sun was bright and I was facing into it, so that’s why these are silhouettes.

Look up at those Caspian Terns!
It’s amazing how often you will see a fish in their beak!
Watching them fish is amazing, as they dive straight into the water from high up. I’ve seen them get fish out of the Pacific Ocean, along the Long Beach WA shore, and also observed them feeding off nearby estuaries in Oregon. They also frequent Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge too. Look for them when the tide is in!
